MAP Pharmaceuticals
Mr. Nelson has served as MAP Pharmaceuticals' President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors since April 2005. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nelson brings to the Board of Directors operating experience with the Company and insight into all aspects of the business. From 1998 to 2005, Mr. Nelson served as Senior Vice President of Commercial and Business Development at DURECT Corporation. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Nelson held various senior management positions with Medtronic, including Business Director of the Neurological Division for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, from 1996 to 1998. Mr. Nelson received an M.M. with distinction from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Armer, a co-founder of MAP Pharmaceuticals, has served as Chief Scientific Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors since the Company's inception, and as President and Chief Executive Officer from inception until April 2005. From 1998 to 2003, Dr. Armer served as Vice President of Pulmonary Delivery Systems and later as Chief Scientific Officer at Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, Inc. From 1989 to 1998, Dr. Armer held a series of senior management and product development positions at the Novon Products Group, a division of Warner-Lambert, and Aeroquip Vickers Corporation. Dr. Armer received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Tulane University.
Mr. Borland is Senior Vice President of MAP Pharmaceuticals' Neurology Franchise and LEVADEX® Program Head. He joined the company in 2006, bringing over a decade of product development and operations experience. Prior to joining MAP, he was Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Capnia Inc from 2004 through 2006. From 1999 to 2004, he held a variety of positions at Aerogen, Inc., including Senior Director, Engineering and Operations. From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Borland served as Senior Research Associate and MIT Visiting Scientist at Therics, Inc.; Engineering Manager at Applied Magnetics; and Director of Processing Engineering at Topaz Technologies. Mr. Borland holds an M.S. in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in materials science and engineering from the University of Arizona.
Mr. Chai is MAP Pharmaceuticals' Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He joined the company in 2006 and has more than 15 years experience in the healthcare and banking industries. From 1998 to 2006, Mr. Chai held various management positions at CV Therapeutics, Inc., including Vice President, Treasury and Investor Relations. Prior to CV Therapeutics, from 1988 to 1998, Mr. Chai worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co., most recently as a healthcare investment banker. Mr. Chai received a B.S. in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University.
Ms. Friedman is MAP Pharmaceuticals' Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. She joined the company in 2007 and has more than 25 years of legal experience, including serving as General Counsel at several medical companies since 1996. Prior to joining MAP, Ms. Friedman served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of VNUS Medical Technologies, Inc., a medical device company; Aviron, a biopharmaceutical company; and R2 Technology, Inc., a medical device company. She also held the position of Vice President, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary at Collagen Aesthetics, Inc., a medical device company. Prior to joining Collagen, Ms. Friedman was in private practice for more than 10 years. She is a member of the California and Massachusetts state bars and holds a B.A. in Ancient Greek and Latin from Tufts University and a J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law.
Mr. Gianakakos joined MAP Pharmaceuticals in September 2006 as Senior Vice President of Corporate and Business Development, and is now the Company's Chief Business Officer. He is also responsible for the Respiratory Business Unit. Prior to MAP Pharmaceuticals, from 2001 to 2006, Mr. Gianakakos held a variety of leadership positions at Codexis Inc., including Senior Vice President of Business Development and head of Codexis' Pharmaceuticals Business Unit. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Gianakakos was Director of Business Development at Maxygen, after beginning his career in process R&D at Merck & Co.'s vaccine group. Mr. Gianakakos received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.S. in biotechnology from Northwestern University and a B.S. in chemical engineering and in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Kellerman has served as Senior Vice President of Clinical Development and Medical Affairs at MAP Pharmaceuticals since July 2008. From 1999 to 2008, Dr. Kellerman held leadership positions at Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc., including Senior Vice President of Development. Previously, Dr. Kellerman was employed in several clinical research positions at Glaxo Wellcome, Sepracor, Inc. and Ciba-Geigy. Dr. Kellerman holds Doctor of Pharmacy and B.S. degrees from the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Graff joined MAP Pharmaceuticals in August 2011, bringing more than 25 years of experience in commercial sales and marketing of pharmaceutical products. Mr. Graff will lead the establishment of MAP's commercial sales organization and U.S. launch of LEVADEX®, if approved. Prior to MAP Pharmaceuticals, as Senior Vice President of Sales at Sepracor, Inc., Mr. Graff built and scaled a fully integrated specialty sales organization from inception as part of the launch of Xopenex®, a nebulized respiratory product, and spearheaded five sales force expansions, including the launch of Lunesta®, a Central Nervous System (CNS) product, into specialty and primary care markets. Mr. Graff also played an integral role on the senior leadership team at Sepracor, developing its commercial capability and championing key organizational development initiatives to build and sustain a high-performance sales organization. Previously, Mr. Graff was Vice President of Sales at Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc., where he developed a sales force deployment strategy and launch plan for the neuroscience specialty sales force, formulated managed care market and pricing strategies, and established supply chain capability. Mr. Graff received a B.A. in political science from the University of Arizona.
Dr. Kori has served as Vice President of Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, CNS, at MAP Pharmaceuticals since July 2007. From 2002 to 2007, Dr. Kori served as Senior Director of Clinical Development at GlaxoSmithKline. From 1978 to 2002, Dr. Kori was a practicing neurologist and held leadership roles at several academic U.S. medical centers, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Case Western Reserve University, Moffitt Cancer Center and Duke University. Dr. Kori received his MBBS and M.D. degrees from Mysore University in India and his undergraduate degree from St. Joseph's College in Bangalore, India.
Mr. McCracken has served as Vice President of Intellectual Property at MAP Pharmaceuticals since 2010. From 2004 to 2010, Mr. McCracken was Vice President and Chief Patent Counsel at DURECT Corporation. From 1998 to 2004, he was Vice President, Intellectual Property at PowderJect Pharmaceuticals. From 1993-1998, Mr. McCracken was in private patent law practice, specializing in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, biomedical engineering and medical devices. Mr. McCracken is a member of the California state bar. He holds a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and a bachelor's degree in microbiology from the University of California, San Diego.
Mr. Rosa has served as Vice President of Human Resources at MAP Pharmaceuticals since May of 2008. From May 2003 to 2008, Mr. Rosa was Vice President of Worldwide Human Resources at Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Rosa served as Vice President, Human Resources at COR Therapeutics, Inc. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Rosa was Vice President at Genelabs Technologies, Inc. Prior to this, Mr. Rosa held senior-level management positions at ReplayTV, Sony Electronics Inc. and the General Electric Company. Mr. Rosa was a USAF Captain and received an M.A. in counseling psychology from New York University and a B.A. in psychology from St. Michael's College.
