Steven A. Elms

Chairman
Aisling Capital Mr. Elms has served as Chairman of the board of directors since June 2004. Mr. Elms serves as a Managing Director of the Perseus-Soros BioPharmaceutical Fund (PSBF) and Managing Director of Aisling Capital LLC. He joined PSBF in mid-2000 from the Life Sciences Investment Banking Group of Chase H&Q (formerly Hambrecht and Quist) where he was a Principal. During his five years at Hambrecht and Quist, Mr. Elms was involved in over 60 financing and M&A transactions, helping clients raise in excess of $3.3 billion in capital. Prior to Hambrecht and Quist, Mr. Elms traded mortgage-backed securities at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. His previous healthcare sector experience includes over two years as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Marion Laboratories and two years as a consultant for The Wilkerson Group. Mr. Elms serves as a director of a number of private companies. Mr. Elms received a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Thomas A. Armer Ph.D.

Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Armer founded MAP Pharmaceuticals in 2003. Between 1998 and 2003, Dr. Armer served as Vice President of Pulmonary Delivery Systems and later as Chief Scientific Officer at Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical company. During his time at Sheffield, Dr. Armer was instrumental in conceiving and developing the Unit Dose Budesonide (UDB) and Tempo® inhaler product lines. From 1989 to 1998, Dr. Armer held a series of senior management and product development positions at the Novon Products Group, a division of Warner-Lambert, and Aeroquip Vickers Corporation, where he and his group developed the Tempo® delivery system. Dr. Armer graduated from Tulane University with a Ph.D. in chemical engineering.

John G. Freund M.D.

Skyline Ventures Dr. Freund has been involved in founding, financing, managing and advising healthcare companies since 1982. He began his career at Morgan Stanley in New York, where he co-founded the Healthcare Group in the Corporate Finance Department and was later the original healthcare partner at Morgan Stanley Ventures. He then was an operating executive for six years as Executive Vice President of Acuson Corporation (an NYSE-traded company that is now part of Siemens), where he ran Marketing and led the cross-functional management of the company's product introductions. In 1995, he licensed the technology that served as the core of Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISRG), co-founded the company and raised its initial venture capital. He then spent two years as the West Coast partner at the Private Equity group of Chancellor Capital Management (now INVESCO), before founding Skyline in 1997. Dr. Freund has experience with most of the major sectors of the healthcare investment market including medical devices, information technology, small molecule chemistry and biochips, biotechnology and diagnostics. He received a B.A. from Harvard College, an M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar and won the Loeb Fellowship in Finance. He was the co-author of The Official MBA Handbook, which spent 16 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list in 1982.

Carl S. Goldfischer M.D.

Bay City Capital Dr. Goldfischer is an Investment Partner and Managing Director of Bay City Capital, serving as a member of the board of directors and executive committee, and has been with the firm since December 2000. His background includes extensive public and private investment and transaction work, as well as clinical trial development knowledge. Prior to joining Bay City Capital, Dr. Goldfischer was, until mid-2000, Chief Financial Officer of ImClone Systems where he oversaw financial operations and strategic planning. Previously, he was a Research Analyst with the Reliance Insurance Company, helping to establish its portfolio and presence in the health care investment community. In addition to MAP, Dr. Goldfischer is a member of the board of directors for BrainCells, EnteroMedics, Etex Corporation, Metabolex, Poniard Pharmaceuticals, and PTC Therapeutics. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Mt. Zion Hospital. Dr. Goldfischer received an M.D. with honors in Scientific Research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College.

Gerri A. Henwood

Auxilium Pharmaceuticals (Retired) Ms. Henwood is currently the Founder and President of an independent consulting firm called Malvern Consulting Group. Previously she was President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board of Auxilium Pharmaceuticals. From 1985 to 1999, Ms. Henwood served as President and Chief Executive Officer of IBAH, Inc., a publicly traded contract research company, originally named Bio-Pharm Clinical Services, Inc., a company which she founded. Prior to that, Ms. Henwood served in a variety of marketing, medical and regulatory positions at Smith, Kline & French Laboratories, now GlaxoSmithKline plc, a publicly traded pharmaceutical company. Ms. Henwood serves as a director of Alkermes, Inc. She received a B.S. from Neuman College.

Bernard J. Kelley

Merck and Co. (Retired) Mr. Kelley retired from Merck and Co. Inc. in 2003, after more than 35 years of service to the company. Most recently, Mr. Kelley was a member of the Merck Management Committee, and served as President of the Merck Manufacturing Division. In his capacity as President of the Manufacturing Division, Mr. Kelley had responsibility for chemical, pharmaceutical and biological manufacturing at 30 facilities in 17 countries around the world employing over 17,000 people. Additionally, he directed the activities of corporate engineering, global procurement and Merck's strategic Operational Excellence Initiative. Mr. Kelley's experience at Merck includes positions of increasing responsibility throughout his career, including over nine years as President of the Merck Manufacturing Division, and Senior Vice President of Operations. Mr. Kelley became Vice President of Business Affairs for Merck's Agricultural and Veterinary Division after three years of service as President of a Merck subsidiary and numerous management and operational roles in the agricultural and veterinary division. Mr. Kelley received an engineering degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the United States Navy. He has served on the Supervisory Board of Aventis Pasteur-MSD, France, the Board of Directors of Merial Limited, U.K., the Board of Directors, N.J. Chamber of Commerce and the Board and Executive Committee of the National Association of Manufacturers.

Matthew V. McPherron

Bain Capital Mr. McPherron joined Bain Capital in 1998 and is a Managing Director of the Brookside Fund. Prior to joining Bain Capital, he served as the President and Chief Operating Officer for U.S. Carelink. Previously, Mr. McPherron worked at Medtronic, Inc., most recently as the Global Marketing Manager - Pain Therapy. Earlier in his career, he spent several years at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Mr. McPherron received an M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.S. from the University of Kansas.

Timothy S. Nelson

President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nelson joined MAP Pharmaceuticals as President and Chief Executive Officer in April 2005, bringing the company 20 years of experience in medical devices, drug delivery, pharmaceutical systems, and biotechnology. Prior to joining MAP Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Nelson served as Senior Vice President of Commercial and Business Development at DURECT Corporation, where he developed and implemented business strategy and market positioning for the company's lead product candidates. Before DURECT, Mr. Nelson held various senior management positions with Medtronic, a $5 billion medical device company. Most recently, he served as the company's business director, neurological division, Europe, Middle East and Africa, where he implemented growth initiatives for innovative therapies treating a variety of medical disorders. Mr. Nelson earned a master's degree in management with distinction from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Scott R. Ward

Medtronic Scott R. Ward was named Senior Vice President and President, Medtronic CardioVascular in May 2007. He is responsible for all worldwide operations of the CardioVascular Business including the Coronary, Peripheral, Endovascular, Structural Heart Disease (SHD) and Revascularization and Surgical Therapies (RST) Businesses. Previously, Mr. Ward served as senior vice president and president of Medtronic Neurological and Diabetes, with responsibility for the global Neurological, Neurologic Technologies, Diabetes, Gastroenterology and Urology businesses; vice president and general manager of the Medtronic Drug Delivery Business; and president of Medtronic Neurological. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Genetics and Cell Biology in 1981, and his Masters Degree in Toxicology in 1983, both from the University of Minnesota.

H. Ward Wolff

Sangamo BioSciences Mr. Wolff brings over 25 years of financial experience to the board of directors. Mr. Wolff is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Sangamo BioSciences, Inc. where he oversees the company's administrative, financial and business development activities and operations. Mr. Wolff was previously Senior Vice President, Finance and CFO at Nuvelo, Inc., and Senior Vice President, Finance and CFO at Abgenix, Inc. until it merged with Amgen Inc. Prior to joining Abgenix, Mr. Wolff held financial management positions in both public and private emerging growth companies, including serving as Senior Vice President and CFO of DoubleTwist, Inc., a life sciences company. He began his career with Price Waterhouse, where he held a number of positions as a certified public accountant. Mr. Wolff received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
